Cabin Run Covered Bridge
Bucks County, Pennsylvania
(WGN 38-09-10) (WGCB PA-09-10):  (1874)  A single-span Town lattice truss 82' 4" over Cabin Run Creek.  Located:  On Covered Bridge Road, approximately 0.7 mile northwest of Smith’s Corner, Plumstead Township, Pennsylvania.  Directions:  In Smith’s Corner, Pennsylvania at the jct. of Stump Road (SR 1010) and Covered Bridge Road, go northwest on Covered Bridge Road for 0.5 mile to the jct. with Schlentz Road.  Turn right on Covered Bridge Road and go 0.2 mile to the bridge.  The structure rests on stone and mortar abutments, reinforced with concrete, and has stone and mortar wing walls capped with concrete.  It has painted vertical boarding on both the sides, portals and splash panels.  The sides and upper portion of the portals are painted barn red while the lower half of the portals and wide vertical splash panels are painted white.  The portal openings are angular and the splash panels flare out from the main truss.  Since there are no openings in the bridge it is quite dark inside.  The deck consists of angular planking and it has a shake roof.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 1, 1980.  (Jun 2008)
